About the event
"Red Zone Prime and Knife Defense Integrated Course
The focus of this course is to give an overview of two of Red Zone Threat Management’s core foundational courses. The context of all of the material is a weapons based environment where awareness of our own and our adversaries weapons is of paramount importance.
Red Zone Prime
Red Zone Prime is the base line empty hand foundation that places an emphasis on positional dominance and prioritizing tactics depending on the scenario. This gives a strong and adaptable platform for scaling violence from verbal deescalation to restrain and control, to lethal force and weapons. Much of this program can be seen the the book Red Zone Prime: A Foundation for Personal Protection but there is a big difference between reading the info and getting hands on training.
Material covered includes:
* Pre-Contact threat awareness and avoidance
* Managing pre-physical interaction
* Surviving the "sucker punch"
* Weapons awareness
* T-shirt chokes
* Positional dominance
Multiple threat awareness
Red Zone Knife Defense
Our approach to edged weapons defense focuses much more on depth of knowledge than accumulation of techniques. All of the techniques employed are gross motor which helps to make them more easily accessible in the heat of a confrontation. If we try to rely too heavily on fine or complex motor skills we will be in trouble when things go bad.
The goal in any weapons defense program that has any connection to reality is to exit the situation as soon as possible. In many cases, those who claim to teach edged weapon defense pay lip service to avoidance and escape and then spend an inordinate amount of time showing intricate (and highly inappropriate) disarms and counters. In the Red Zone program escape is not an afterthought, it is the entire focus. This means that all of our techniques and training methods revolve around creating a window of escape at the earliest opportunity.
Having said that, there are definite hands on skills that can greatly reduce the amount of damage we suffer should we have to go hands on.
The focus of this workshop will be to focus on the most important skill sets we need to survive an edged weapon encounter.
NO EXPERIENCE IS NECESSARY.
